As well as our daily Football Tips we have put together some of thoughts and best bets for the season ahead.
Premier League Predictions
It's finally here! The Premier League is back after a pretty underwhelming Euro 2016. Right this is where we pull a 5000/1 shot out the bag to win the title? Unfortunately not this season, for two reasons, one the bookies aren't offering anything near those prices after getting bitten last season and two I can't see the "Big guns" performing as badly as they did last season (taking nothing away from Leicester's unreal performance).
Hopefully we can still point you in the right direction with some decent value to compliment our weekly Football Tips as we move through the season.
Winner and Champions League (Top Four)
Winner - Chelsea (13/2 Paddy Power)
This could be one of the most hotly contested title races in years and picking the likely winner wasn’t easy but at the prices you will see where I’m coming from.
In a season where everyone is making a flurry of changes Chelsea out of everyone probably didn't need too much. They played well once Jose left last season and were hard to beat. The new manager exceeded expectations with a poor Italian side at the Euros and should do really well with this Chelsea team. Kante coming in will hopefully replace Matic who's level like most of the squad dropped last season after he was pivotal in Chelsea winning it just two seasons ago and having another hard working player in Kante in the squad will make Chelsea a strong defensive unit. Combine that with a rejuvenated Hazard and a decent forward line,13/2 looks a great price.
Runner-Up - Man City (5/2 William Hill)
Pep is finally in the Premier League and he is totally overhauling this City squad. Their forward line is seriously impressive but they seem to have forgotten about their shocking defence. Yes Stones has come in but as we saw last season when Kompany is having issues with injuries they are likely to struggle with no one near his level to replace him. With the amazing forward line and shocking defence BTTS has got to be one of the top bets when it comes to City. I would avoid City for title winning purpose at what I think is a short prices at 5/2 with that defence still a big issue.
3rd - Man Utd (7/2 Paddy Power)
They have pretty much hogged the transfer window in-terms of headlines with big names coming in (Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Mithryan) and with the Special One of course. They have struggled big time over the last few seasons and these are just some of the changes they needed to make. The defence is still not as solid as it could be with new signing Bailey splitting opinions last week. Based on the last 3 seasons they poropbaly have to improve futher to win the title again.
4th - Arsenal (13/2 Betway)
Yes I have picked Arsenal in their favourite league position but I just can't see them having a better opportunity than last year. Every year we look at Arsenal and it is obvious what they need to do in the transfer window but not for Arsene. As a result their forward line consists of Giroud and Walcott again and worst of all they may start the 1st game against Liverpool with Chambers and Holding at centre-back, both have very little experience at this level and that is just asking for trouble. Prepare for plenty of Arsenal fan outbursts on social media.
Not everyones idea of a reward for finishing 5th and 6th as it creates plenty of extra games however it does bring in plenty of extra money and qualification to the Champions League if you win it.
5th - Liverpool (9/1 Most Bookmakers)
Klopp finally has a squad he is calling his own at Liverpool and I think they go under the radar a bit. They may not have the best defence but they play at such a tempo they will stop a lot of teams playing and are pretty potent up top. They would have faired better last season if it hadn't been for the Europa League and will be pushing for the top-4 again this season.
6th - Spurs (10/1 SkyBet)
They come off the back of a great season last year just falling away at the end. They have a good starting XI however outside of this they don't have much class to come if say Kane or Eriksson gets injured. They have brought it a few players this summer who will add to the squad depth which will be useful in the Champions League however the odd injury could find them out.
There will be plenty of teams fighting for Premier League survival but i have a feel at least the first two will struggle to get near the 40 point mark.
Bottom - Hull (8/15 to be relegated Skybet)
Only one place to start here. They are odds-on for a reason and Bruce walking away was just the tip of the iceberg. He left as they haven't done anything in the window and surprise, suprise no manager has been appointed yet and they still haven't done any business in the window after losing Diame and Aluko to a name a few. A manager taking this job would be the equivalent of managing England.
19th - Burnley (21/20 to be relegated Betfair)
I like Burnley as they stick to their wages structure and get the best out of what they have. However the amount of money coming into the league nowadays they have to be a bit less cautious as it will likely cost them going on this way with the squad the size it is. They lost a key player in Joey Barton in summer to Rangers and with the budget seemingly minimal again this season I fear the worst for Sean Dyche's team.
18th - Sunderland (11/4 to be relegated Betfair)
This one unfortunately for Sunderland fans has been coming for a few seasons now. I think it is their time to drop to the Championship after a couple of late escapes. Big Sam leaving for England is a big blow, don't get me wrong Moyes is a good manager but he will try and get his system to work with limited resources and it could go either way.
Teams To Just Avoid The Drop
WBA - Least number of shots in Europe last year and they don't seem to have done much about it, another long season ahead for WBA Fans.
Swansea - They have lost quite a few players this season including Eder and Gomis and haven't done a great deal of business. They were average last season and without some late purchases they may struggle big time.
